Who We Are

Welcome to our Web site! In these pages we hope to give you
a glimpse of our life totally dedicated to God
in the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Founded in Hungary in 1940 by Sister Ida Peterfy,
our religious community is devoted to the loving Heart of our Lord Jesus.
His love permeates our life and apostolate.

We are religious women consecrated to God through the public vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. We strive to make the love of God known wherever we are sent.  Our Community has a treasured and unique religious education charism, using the  classic Five Step Illustrated Teaching Method, handed on to us by our foundress, Sister Ida.

This method is reflected in our video/DVD catechesis, in our teaching and in our  teacher formation video/DVD tapes:
"Be A Dynamic and Effective Religion Teacher!"

Our Sisters give Catechist Formation Workshops and Seminars throughout the United States and abroad.

We have missions in Taiwan and in Hungary.

Our Motherhouse and Novitiate are located in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

On our golden Jubilee pilgrimage to Rome, we received a great privilege when Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass for our community in his private chapel.

After speaking with each of our Sisters, he said, "My wish and my prayer for you is that you will be 4,000 soon."

At the end of the audience, he said, "Sisters, you are a blessing for the Pope. You are truly American and truly Catholic."

"We are ready to bring the Good News of Christ wherever His children need us,
both in our homeland and in foreign missions."
